The Museum of Modern Art of Ukraine continues the art project “Conversations about Art”.
Date of the event: on October 10 (Thursday), another conversation will take place – an online lecture “Outstanding artists: why their works are masterpieces.” Part 5.
In the new lecture, we will continue the journey into the art of the 17th century – a time of powerful changes in Europe and at the same time – significant artistic achievements. We will look at the refined and elegant art of France and the original painting of Spain during its “golden age”.
We will meet outstanding artists – Diego Velasquez, Nicolas Poussin, Claude Lorrain and other artists. What new art did the artists of this period create and what secrets and surprises do their masterpieces hide? What artistic pursuits fueled the fire of their inspiration? We will explore these and many other interesting topics during the lecture.
Why do recognized masterpieces fascinate and excite viewers of the time and today, inspire other artists? How can the power of a creative personality influence the development of art and be ahead of its time? These questions are always relevant when considering the phenomenon of creativity.
So we will investigate how the formation of artists took place in the realities of past centuries, how new styles and genres were born in their work. And in the following lectures, we will travel further in the interesting and fascinating world of art from past centuries to the present.
The lecturer is Kateryna Tarchevska, cultural expert, art critic, author of materials about culture and art in periodicals and catalogs.
The lecture will be held online in the format of a Zoom conference. A recording of the lecture will be available.
