Date of the event: December 11 (Wednesday) at 19:00, another conversation will take place – an online lecture “Romanticism of the early 19th century – emotion, drama, mystery…”
In the new lecture, we will continue to explore the phenomenon of the creativity of brilliant artists and their masterpieces. This time we will consider a multifaceted and ambiguous direction in art and culture in general – Romanticism. Its appearance in the late 18th – early 19th centuries. fell on a period of significant historical and social changes. Romanticism is not at all idyllic love stories. This is a phenomenon that had many faces and manifestations, which captured different areas of cultural life, which was periodically restored and influenced other styles.
We will get acquainted with the work of completely different artists. This is the mystical visionary, poet and engraver William Blake, the maximalist in life and work Theodore Gericault, the emotional and inventive master of color Eugene Delacroix, the melancholic hermit and contemplative Caspar David Friedrich, the purposeful, poetic and original landscape painter Camille Corot. All of them made a significant contribution to the development of romanticism. Each of them created something new in the world of art and became an inspiration for subsequent generations. Their work fully reflects the 19th century – an era of dynamic changes and constant searches for the new. And in the following lectures we will travel further in the interesting and amazing world of art from past centuries to the present.
