The Museum of Modern Art of Ukraine continues the art project “Conversations about Art”.
Date of the event: June 5 (Thursday) will be another conversation – an online lecture “Landscape in Impressionism. Harmonious charm and naturalness”
Our series of lectures on the history of art and the phenomenon of the creativity of brilliant artists continues! We will continue to explore the development and features of an extremely important direction in art – Impressionism. This time we will consider one of the main genres in Impressionism – landscape. Why did work in the open air bring about radical changes in this genre? How did it combine old traditions and new ideas? Why did the audience and critics of that time not perceive the new image of the landscape? We will discuss these and other interesting topics during the lecture.
In this lecture, we will largely focus on the work of outstanding landscape painters-impressionists – Camille Pissarro and Alfred Sisley. They were faithful to this genre throughout their work and did not betray their artistic principles. Despite the public’s misunderstanding and lack of recognition, they glorified the beauty of nature, capturing and embodying a unique moment of Life.
In the following lectures, we will continue the story of other outstanding impressionists – and travel further in the interesting and amazing world of art.
Lecturer – Kateryna Tarchevska, cultural scientist, art historian, author of materials about culture and art in periodicals and catalogs.
The lecture will be held online in the format of a Zoom conference. The lecture recording will be available.
The start of the online lecture is on June 5 (Thursday) at 19:00.
Duration – 1.5 hours.
