16th of September, 2010: The Museum of Modern Art of Ukraine features an art exhibition of one of the leaders of the “Skvot on Olegivska” (Kyiv) and founder of the Fiction Gallery Expedition (1996-2006, Kyiv) – Igor KONOVALOV.

The exposition features more than 40 works, to include the early works of the artist in 1990s, the series “Golden mountains” and “Birds”, which are partially familiar to the audience, and the works of 2008-2010.

According to Tetiana Gershuni, “The works of Igor Konovalov have a peculiar capability of captivating or leading into a state of mediation by virtue of their subject and conceptual underlying idea. Looking at his paintings you may understand that the genre of art itself is a kind of fading in time and space, and it exists as a visual pause between the cause and the effect, between the reaction and the action”.

“Igor Konovalov is one of the leaders of the legendary group “Artists from Olegivska”, founders and incorporators of the idea of Fiction Gallery Expedition that changed our concept about the borders of the art… In the same time no matter what painting, picture, slide, or canvas you take you won’t be mistaken about one thing:  the art antimony of this author lies within the fact that the seriation of periods doesn’t contrast with his powerful integrity; whatever you start, however you shoot – it always reaches the target…” (from the article by Oleg Sydir-Gibelind “About the high essence of owls and streams: the works of Igor Konovalov”).

The exhibition will take place till October 17th, 2010.
