The Museum of Modern Art of Ukraine is representing the project “RasiMIR” by Rasim Seidimov, dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the UN.

The exposition will contain 9 canvases representing the paraphrase of the author related to the flags of different countries of the world. These countries are located in the different parts of the Earth; they are very different and still united in the exhibition hall of the Museum by the vital and spiritual experience of the author, impersonated in the people close to him.

Rasim Seidimov says, “The tenderness of dark inflections of the evening in the “flag” of Turkey goes in contrast with the lines of the coat of arms of Vilnius – the capital of Baltic Lithuania. I’ve got friends leaving in these countries.

The sky-blue colors, the tranquility of the two figures which resemble a bit children walking along the streets on the Kyiv Day or maybe the figures of St. Olga or St. Volodymyr – that’s how I see Ukraine – my second native country. I believe that the mysterious complications of China and the exotics of Thailand are the millennial wisdom and mystery. The idea of a source of three world religions dominates in the canvases-flags of Israel and Saudi Arabia. But then, it is all much more complicated in my works … and you won’t be able to describe it in a couple of words.

This is not the first of my projects devoted to the historical destiny of the countries and nations (a series of canvases devoted to the tragedy in Khodzhaly, Azerbaidzhan, was shown under the sponsorship of the Art Development Fund in 2009). The image of Azerbaidzhan in this very project is more generalized – the canvas-flag contains not only the sorrow but the joy, sun, wealth of the Earth, and mellowness of its people. I believe in the bright future of my native Azerbaidzhan.

I will continue to work under this cycle as the circle of my friends is constantly growing and the world is becoming closer. I’ll be using a working title “My geopolitics” in the beginning of my project. Though an artist is not an economist, nor a military or a politician. The details of international relations and political intricacies is not the case for the artist. The most important for the artist is the multicolorness of the globe which is created by countries and nations. They should live in peace and harmony – this is the main thing.

That’s how I came to the title of “RasiMIR” that is the peace which exists if not in the whole world but in the imagination and works of one artist at least”.

The exhibition opens on Wednesday, 27th of October, 18:00, and lasts till the 28th of November.
